Celebrating Two Years of JRMT Consulting: A Journey of Growth and Purpose

Today, two years ago, JRMT Consulting, LLC was born. I had no clue what it was like to be an entrepreneur or what it took to be one. Initially, I created a web design company (as a DBA) at the brink of the pandemic in 2020 because I was confident in my ability to create websites and help bring clients' visions to life. However, that venture failed because it was not where my passion was. At the time, I was working in banking but had begun to venture into the fraud prevention space.

On January 31, 2023, I decided to create a fraud prevention consulting firm. I had been working in fraud, fascinated by how fraud happened, but I didn’t yet have much skin in the game. Fast forward to April 2023, I received devastating news—my position had been "dissolved," and I was given severance. At this time, my baby was 10 months old, I had bills to pay (including a mortgage), and a family to care for. That moment forced me into the closet (literally) to connect with God, who had a lesson for me that I wasn’t expecting: obedience and patience.

After many failed job interviews and ghosted recruiter conversations, I finally landed a position in tech (five months later) as a Functional QA Tester. Although I loved the position and the nature of the work, my purpose still felt unfulfilled. By May 2024, an opportunity presented itself for me to re-enter the workforce as a fraud analyst, and I couldn’t resist. However, during that time, so much was happening in the background of my life.

As a mother, I initially thought my obligation was to sacrifice my time, energy, and everything in between to my child and my home. Wrong! I had built so much momentum—posting, creating email newsletters, going live, hiring coaches/mentors—but I still lacked something. My initial thought was to offer fraud prevention services to businesses based on my corporate experience. I soon realized that approach didn’t align with the vision God had for me. I then thought reducing services might help me reach my audience, but I still wasn’t clear on who my target audience was.

By 2024, JRMT Consulting wasn’t as active on social media as we were in 2023. Not because we lost interest, but because I needed to take the time to fill the gaps within myself before I could effectively show up for this business.

Then, I had a conversation with a good friend—someone I now consider my business coach. She suggested one thing that completely shifted my perspective: create digital products. That one piece of advice changed everything. After that conversation, I felt a divine reroute from God telling me to stop everything, reflect, and realign. It was a season of stillness, but it was necessary. Over time, I slowly gained momentum again. Now, I am working on beneficial digital assets that will serve our clients and improve fraud prevention visibility and awareness.

This blog also serves as my public apology to those who have supported us fully and to those who may not know enough about us. During this off-time, I have been very intentional about our strategy to show up and be a better solution provider for you.

In conclusion, there is more to come. We appreciate you all for your continued support, and we will strive to be more intentional and present with the content we produce and the services we are working on offering. Cheers to another year and the evolution of greatness!

Stay connected—follow us on Instagram and Facebook. We’re also working on updating our website to better align with how we serve our clients. Stay tuned!

With love and respect,

De’Airra, your neighborhood fraud prevention ally.
